VISION

At SDF, our vision is to empower communities by applying circular economy principles to our projects located in developing countries. Our vision is to create ‘Circular-Sustainable Communities’ that consist of distributed, rural towns where the residents live together in cooperation and a symbiotic relationship with nature. Decentralized utility infrastructures are purposefully designed to allow neighborhoods to manage their operations and capitalize from the application of appropriate technologies to improve residents quality of lives. Our focus in design and construction is to ensure that nothing is wasted.

Instead, we replace the term waste with the term “assets,” and seek to find ways to use that which could be considered waste to further enrich the communities we serve.

How do we turn waste into assets?

Here are a few examples:

  • Organic byproducts are either composted or anaerobically digested to create methane and fertilizer.

  • Water is treated as a valuable resource and recycled for irrigation, laundry, or hand washing.

  • Energy needs are met by a series of interconnected micro-grids served by renewable energy sources and on-site storage.

  • Packaging and containers are re-purposed and reused by the community.

Our passion and desire is to make our vision a reality in developing areas of the world and empower these communities to demonstrate sustainable living and environmental stewardship.
